A roundtable discussion was held at Chesapeake Energy in Mansfield, La at 9 a.m. Energy, economy and Johnson’s role in the House of Representatives were topics discussed.

“It doesn’t matter what political party you’re in. You ought to support what makes sense, what’s good, what’s better for the environment if that’s their top concern,” he said. “But it’s certainly good for all the other things that we’ve discussed. So how can a leader in the industry like Chesapeake continue to advance the narrative and put the truth out there? I’d say just continue to do what you do.”

Nick Dell’Osso, the CEO and president of Chesapeake Energy, said they were proud to welcome the House speaker and talked about how natural gas is driving energy policy.

“We’re very, very proud of the work that we do in northwest Louisiana and what it means to the economy here locally, to the state, to the nation and to the rest of the world,” Dell’Osso said.

The CEO thinks every district in the country should have access to their representative.

“That’s a tremendous opportunity to elevate the issues of this area to someone with the sway in Congress to make things happen and make things happen in a significant matter,” he said.

Dell’Osso believes no issue is more bipartisan than energy policy.

“Having the direct access to the speaker...to talk about the things that matter to this community is really affective way to participate in the legislative process,” the CEO said.

Madison Cales, who is a mother, knows the struggle of finding childcare when it comes to moving from base to base. She says she appreciates Johnson’s dedication to helping those in uniform.

“Since moving here, we’ve had a really hard time with finding childcare, and I know that’s not just my personal opinion. Across the military, that is a common factor,” Cales said. “It’s really nice for the military families as well as the military servicemember to hear from representatives who support the mission happening here but across the country as well.”

At 4:30 p.m., Johnson spoke at Bossier Parish School for Technology & Innovative Learning in Bossier City.

“We did a number of events today from Mansfield to Many, to Barksdale, to here for the Caddo-Bossier leaders gathering. Its just great to be home, great to be in the district,” Johnson said.

"It's just great to be home, great to be in the district,” Mike Johnson said.

In October 2023, he made history as the first House speaker from Louisiana.

“This is the first time there’s ever been a speaker of the House from our state, and it’s a big thing for our district and for our priorities.”
