IN THE HOUSE

Last Friday, I introduced the One Agency Act, which would bring all federal authority for policing anticompetitive behavior by Big Tech and other major corporations under the Department of Justice’s purview. Currently, that jurisdiction is divided between two federal agencies, leading to bureaucratic delays. Our federal government would benefit from more legislation like this to streamline the roles of our federal agencies so they can operate more effectively on behalf of the American people, and that is why I will continue to introduce bills of this kind.

PRESIDENT BIDEN’S FIRST JOINT ADDRESS TO CONGRESS

On April 28, President Biden gave his first address to Congress. We have all been disappointed to see the president break his Day 1 promise to bring the country together and to govern in a bipartisan way.

Unfortunately, his speech was filled with more empty promises. With a 50-50 split in the Senate and with one of the slimmest majorities ever in the House, one would think the President would work with Republicans – but that is not what we have witnessed in his first 100 days. He has chosen instead to govern by Executive Order and by signing legislation that’s passed solely on partisan lines. 

However, there is light at the end of the tunnel. My good friend Senator Tim Scott brought the truth in the Republican response to President Biden’s speech. I encourage you all to watch his inspiring and hopeful remarks which offer a better vision for America:
