WASHINGTON, December 7, 2021 — United States Representative Mike Johnson (LA-04) today commended Fort Polk for being selected as a recipient of the 2021 Army Partnership Award, which celebrates the defense communities that actively work to improve the quality of life at their installation. “Fort Polk and the surrounding community are often recognized for their close working relationship to benefit the servicemembers on post, and this award provides further commendation for those efforts,” Johnson said. “Fort Polk and the Leesville area continue to be an outstanding example of defense community engagement with installations, and I am thrilled to see the many ways in which this collaboration will continue to improve the quality of life of servicemembers in the future.” Background: Fort Polk was one of only 7 recipients nationwide of the 2021 Army Partnership Award. Fort Polk was recognized for Education Enhancement Initiatives with the Vernon Parish School Board (VPSB), namely collaborating with VPSB to provide counseling services to military families and contributing active-duty military police officers to serve as school resource officers. Congressman Johnson is the Vice Chairman of the House Republican Conference, a member of the House Judiciary and Armed Services Committees, and a former constitutional law litigator. |
