Rep. Mike Johnson: “Is There Any Single State, Local or Personal Issue that President Biden and His Cabinet Won’t Insert Themselves Into?”

WASHINGTON, December 8, 2021 — United States Representative Mike Johnson (LA-04) said today in the House Judiciary Committee, “At this point, it's entirely fair to ask whether there's any state or local, or even, matter of personal conscience, that the President and his cabinet won't insert themselves into.”

“The Department of Justice, under the leadership of President Biden, and Attorney General Merrick Garland appears to be more motivated by politics than by pressing law enforcement needs,” Johnson said. “Just think of some of the actions that the Federal Department of Justice has taken this year.”

“They sued Texas for its pro-life law. They sued Georgia for its election integrity law. They sued Texas again, this time over the redistricting plan. They're aiming federal law enforcement power at parents protesting their local school boards. They're issuing a memorandum attempting to justify the Administration's unconstitutional vaccine mandates. They're pushing to pay illegal immigrants for President Trump's decision to enforce our immigration laws.”

Johnson continued: “Of course, the backdrop to all this is that there are so many crises that continue to go unaddressed. Crime is rising across the country, turn on the news in the morning and watch it happen. Our southern border remains overwhelmed by illegal immigration. It is a crisis they won't even acknowledge, much less address. Federal and private property is being vandalized nightly. U.S. Senators are being harassed in restrooms and at their private homes.”

Johnson concluded his opening statement: “And millions of Americans are rightly concerned that instead of addressing all these pressing needs facing the country—this is the DOJ’s job—what are they doing instead? Well, they're using the DOJ as a tool to advance far-left policies. They're attacking Republican-led actions, state actions, and further eroding the free will of the American people.”
