WASHINGTON, January 19, 2022 — United States Representative Mike Johnson (LA-04) today released the following statement at the conclusion of President Biden’s press conference:

“President Biden’s first news conference in months did little to obscure what is a relatively simple truth: he and the Democrats have fundamentally misread their mandate.

“The American people gave the Democrats a razor-thin majority in the House and a Senate split 50-50. No objective person thinks President Biden was given authority to radically transform our country. The margins in Congress require bipartisanship, which was never even attempted by the White House or the Democrat leadership. The primary job Americans elected President Biden to do was to help unite the country. He has done the opposite.”

Congressman Johnson is the Vice Chairman of the House Republican Conference, a member of the House Judiciary and Armed Services Committees, and a former constitutional law litigator.
