Congress Certifies Donald Trump's Election as President

President Trump won 312 electoral college votes in a landslide victory

WASHINGTON — Today, members of the House and Senate convened in a joint session of Congress to count and certify electoral college votes submitted by state government officials from all 50 U.S. states. After finalizing the count of 312-226, Congress declared Donald J. Trump as the 47th President of the United States. 

Speaker Johnson released the following statement after the certification:

“Today, in accordance with the Constitution, Congress met in a joint session to count electoral college votes and certify President Donald J. Trump’s election as the 47th President of the United States. In two weeks, President Trump will take the oath of office, cementing the greatest political comeback in American history. His landslide election and corresponding mandate from the American people dictate that Congress waste no time in delivering on the America First agenda, and we are prepared to hit the ground running.”
