A few Minden residents got the latest on Washington at a town hall meeting with Congressman Mike Johnson. People listened as Johnson explained what he called the facts of the American Healthcare Act. He said one rumor that he has heard a lot is that the bill does not cover pre-existing conditions, which is not true. Johnson answered questions and broke down the American Healthcare Act to those who attended. Johnson said Congress has been very busy, but he's happy to say they have placed 340+ votes on the house floor so far, "The big concerns here are the same as they've been for a while. People here are concerned about their healthcare. They want to know what's happening with the reform in Washington and of course we are always concerned about the economy and jobs and national security. I mean those are the big, big issues". Johnson said their next big agenda item over the next few weeks will be tax reform. |
