Strengthening the military. That's one of the primary agenda items republicans in Washington are working on, says Louisiana Congressman Mike Johnson. Johnson held a town hall in Mansfield on Friday. One key item he mentioned is government's effort to beef up the U.S, military. He says congress approved a hefty increase in military funding, something he says is much needed. "Y'all know Barksdale is over here in our neighborhood," said Johnson. "We need a new engine in our B-52s. I don't know if you're aware of that, but when those big birds are flying over you, those engines are starting to fail. This is pretty serious. We have to maintain our military superiority because as I mentioned in the offset. It's critically important for the security of the entire world. Johnson also discussed his ongoing effort to try and reform healthcare, his thoughts on events in Charlottesville, VA, and his effort to get more members of congress to sign a commitment to civility. Items he's covered in recent town hall meetings and public gatherings. By the end of the month, Johnson will have held at least one town hall in every parish within Louisiana's Fourth Congressional District. |
