LONDON, UK — Today, Speaker Johnson participated in several bilateral meetings in the United Kingdom as he prepares to address UK Parliament on Tuesday, January 20. The Speaker met with UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer at Downing Street and UK Speaker of the House of Commons Lindsay Hoyle in Parliament.

Speaker Johnson released the following statement after his bilateral meetings:

“Today, I was honored to visit Prime Minister Starmer at Downing Street and Speaker Hoyle at Parliament as we commemorate America’s 250th anniversary. Our meetings today come at a consequential time in history, and I was grateful for the opportunity to reaffirm America’s commitment to the very special relationship between our countries,” Speaker Johnson said. 
 
“We discussed several important matters that the United States and the United Kingdom are tackling together. In particular, we addressed our broader efforts to strengthen the collective defense of the West as we face growing threats from China, Russia, and Iran. Our nations will continue to maintain open and honest dialogue, and we remain steadfast in our conviction that a strong and united US-UK alliance is good for freedom-loving people around the world.”
