 – On Tuesday, the U.S. Supreme Court issued rulings in NIFLA v. Becerra and Trump v. Hawaii. In NIFLA v. Becerra, the court sided with pro-life pregnancy centers that were being forced to advertise for the abortion industry by the California government. In Trump v. Hawaii, the court sided with President Trump by upholding his proclamation to restrict travel from countries with elevated terror activity. Rep. Mike Johnson (LA-04) has been vocal on both issues.

Rep. Johnson released the following statement on NIFLA v. Becerra ruling:

“No American citizen should ever be made to disseminate information they have strongly held convictions against. ​Still, the California government was attempting to do just that by forcing pro-life pregnancy centers to advertise for abortions. This was not only grossly immoral but blatantly unconstitutional. Thankfully, the Supreme Court agreed and took a stand today to defend our First Amendment rights.”

Rep. Johnson released the following statement on Trump v. Hawaii ruling:

"With increased hostilities around the globe, it is imperative we take all appropriate measures to defend our people and protect our borders. Giving increased scrutiny to those traveling to the U.S. from terrorist hotbeds is a commonsense effort to decrease the risk of terror attacks in our country. Today, the Supreme Court recognized the critical nature of the president’s proclamation and upheld his effort to protect our national security.”
