Johnson Statement on Coronavirus Relief Bill
Washington, DC,
March 13, 2017
U.S. Representative Mike Johnson (LA-04) today issued the following statement after voting in support of the Families First Coronavirus Response Act: “I’ve said from the beginning of this unprecedented crisis that my top priorities are keeping Louisianians safe and healthy, and minimizing the disruption caused by the coronavirus. The bill passed late tonight is far from perfect, but it will help with those priorities, and that is why I ultimately voted for it. “I do have serious concerns with the price tag of this legislation and some of its provisions, and I am certainly frustrated by the steamrolled process and lack of transparency that produced it. However, Members of Congress were simply given no choice tonight. “I voted yes because so many people in our state needed me to. It is my hope that our concerns will be addressed when the bill is considered in the Senate.” ### |
