On Wednesday, the U.S. House of Representatives passed H.R. 38, the Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act, to amend the federal criminal code to allow an individual with a concealed carry permit in one state to carry a firearm in another concealed carry state, so long as the individual adheres to the laws of that state.

The House Judiciary Committee passed this bill out of committee on November 29, and Rep. Mike Johnson (LA-04), a cosponsor of the bill, spoke on the House floor in favor of the legislation before the vote.

Johnson released the following statement:

"The American people have a constitutionally protected right to keep and bear arms. And just as we are afforded our right to speak freely no matter which state we are in, so too are we bestowed our rights outlined under the Second Amendment regardless of where we are in the United States. I am proud to have helped usher this historic bill through the House.”
