Johnson Statement on End of Government Shutdown
Washington, DC,
January 23, 2018
Rep. Mike Johnson (LA-04) released the following statement after the reopening of the federal government: “Senate Democrats finally came to their senses and stopped using vulnerable children and military personnel as bargaining chips. At the conclusion of their filibuster, we were able to restore important government services, pass long-term reauthorization for the Children’s Health Insurance Program which serves nearly 9 million children across the nation, and ensure America’s military personnel receive their hard-earned pay. This shutdown was completely unnecessary, and I am glad to see it has come to an end. My colleagues and I are eager to get back to the people’s work.” |
