Johnson: We are on a Path to Economic Prosperity

Rep. Mike Johnson (LA-04) released the following statement ahead of Tax Day 2018:

"While hard-working Americans all across the nation are finalizing the frustrating process of preparing and filing their 2017 taxes ahead of tomorrow's deadline, they can rejoice in the fact that this outdated and overly-complex tax code will soon be a relic of the past. Next year, the reforms made in the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act will be applied and result in tax cuts at every income level. That means individuals and families will keep more of their own money to spend how they see fit, rather than sending it to Washington.

"For the first time in a long time, we are on a renewed path to economic prosperity. The Tax Cuts and Jobs Act put the American people first, and the benefits of this historic reform will be realized for many years to come."

Note: The 2017 tax filings, due April 17, 2018, do not reflect the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, which will be fully implemented and applied beginning with the 2018 tax filing season in April 2019.
