Northwest Louisiana to Receive More than $3 Million in Infrastructure Grants
Washington, DC,

The U.S. Department of Transportation announced the City of Shreveport will receive $1.5 million to add new buses to the Shreveport Area Transit System fleet. Rep. Mike Johnson (LA-04) expressed support for the program in a letter to the Federal Transit Administration earlier this year. This follows another $1.5 million grant announced recently by the U.S. Department of Agriculture to modernize water infrastructure. The grant, totaling $1,509,000, will go to Alberta Water System, Inc. in Bienville Parish along with a $564,000 loan to rebuild and improve rural water infrastructure that serves more than 1,800 people in the area. Rep. Johnson released the following statement: "Regularly maintaining infrastructure systems is an important part of promoting the overall health of our local economies. Equally important is the task of ensuring Louisianians have access to clean, reliable water and the means to safely travel throughout the state. The additional resources and modernized equipment provided by these grants will greatly benefit our communities, and I am proud to have advocated on behalf of Louisiana's Fourth District and helped in securing these investments." |
