Washington, DC,
October 2, 2018
Rep. Mike Johnson (LA-04), along with the Congressional Coalition on Adoption Institute, recognized Bossier KIDS as “Angels in Adoption” for the vital care they provide in support of children in the foster care system across Northwest Louisiana. Every year, members of Congress nominate an individual, family or organization to be recognized for demonstrating a commitment to improving the lives of children in need of permanent, loving homes. Johnson nominated Bossier KIDS for the work they do to provide care, love, understanding, support and encouragement to children going through the foster care process. REP. JOHNSON RELEASED THE FOLLOWING STATEMENT: “In an often difficult and uncertain time, Bossier KIDS offers stability by providing loving homes and family placements for children going through the foster care system. The spiritual, emotional and physical support they offer can help ease tension during the transition into a permanent home. Bossier KIDS provides a positive, lasting impact on the lives of children all across Northwest Louisiana. We are honored to recognize them as ‘Angels in Adoption’ this year and blessed to have their support in our communities.” BACKGROUND There are more than 4,500 children in foster care in Louisiana. Bossier KIDS was established in 1984 as a non-profit, faith-based foster care agency. Its mission is to provide an extended family to children in Louisiana’s foster care system. Families with Bossier KIDS have cared for 361 children, and Bossier KIDS has supported 31 children in their transition into adoptive forever families. Bossier KIDS continues the development and maintenance of stable, healthy families for children and provides for children until the natural family situation is resolved or a permanent adoptive family is found. |
