Republican Study Committee Chairman Mike Johnson (R-La.) released the following statement regarding Attorney General William Barr’s decision not to appear before the House Judiciary Committee to answer questions from congressional staff:
“Attorney General Barr has clearly expressed his willingness to come before Congress and answer questions from members. He did so just today in the Senate. Chairman Nadler’s insistence on subjecting the Attorney General of the United States to interrogation by congressional staffers in these circumstances is unprecedented and wholly inappropriate. Mr. Barr is right to reject such blatant political maneuvering. We do hope the Democrats on our committee will stop playing petty politics with our oversight responsibility so the attorney general can appear before us in an appropriate hearing in the near future.”
