Johnson Announces Paid Fellowship Opportunity for Wounded or Disabled Veterans

The office of U.S. Representative Mike Johnson (LA-04) is offering a two-year paid fellowship opportunity for wounded and/or disabled veterans. The selected veteran will work from the Fourth Congressional District’s Bossier city office location, primarily on veteran-related casework, and will act as a facilitator between constituents and federal, state and local agencies.

Interested veterans can find more information and apply by using this link or by visiting https://www.usajobs.gov/ and searching “Wounded Warrior Fellowship Program.”

JOHNSON RELEASED THE FOLLOWING STATEMENT:

“We are excited to participate in the Wounded Warrior Fellowship Program and look forward to welcoming a new addition to our staff team. This wonderful program involves a real ‘win-win’ scenario by providing job opportunities for disabled and wounded veterans, who then become huge assets in fulfilling the important responsibility of assisting other heroes who have served our nation. We encourage qualified applicants to apply and thank everyone for their interest and support.”

BACKGROUND

The Wounded Warrior Fellowship Program was established by the U.S. House of Representatives to provide opportunities for wounded and/or disabled veterans to work for Congress.

The program is limited to veterans who meet all of the following requirements: honorably discharged, released from active duty within the last five years, terminal pay grades at or below E-5 or O-3, and 20 percent or greater service connected disabilities (waived if you have a Purple Heart).  Veterans who are in receipt of a 20-year or Temporary Early Retirement Authorization (TERA) retirement are not eligible for the program.
