Shreveport Awarded More than $50,000 for First-Responder Organizations

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security announced this week that the City of Shreveport will be awarded $52,181.81 through the Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) Program. Each year, the program awards grants to first-responder organizations for emergency response equipment, personal protective equipment, firefighting and emergency vehicles, and training.

U.S. REPRESENTATIVE MIKE JOHNSON (LA-04) RELEASED THE FOLLOWING STATEMENT:

“As the son of a firefighter who nearly lost his life in the line of duty, I know firsthand the tremendous sacrifices our first responders make every day to keep our communities safe, often under stressful and dangerous conditions. The least we can do is ensure they have the necessary resources to serve as safely and successfully as possible. I’m thankful for the Department of Homeland Security’s investment in our emergency response organizations. These heroes deserve our prayers and our support.”
