 U.S. Representative Mike Johnson (LA-04) released the following statement after attending today’s ceremony awarding former New Orleans Saint and ALS advocate, Steve Gleason, with the Congressional Gold Medal:

“Steve Gleason has not only confronted his diagnosis with bravery and courage, but he has used his voice to assist and support people across the nation. Steve has worked tirelessly to help provide the resources needed to ensure he, and countless others, can continue living in the face of extreme adversity. It is an honor to recognize him with the Congressional Gold Medal for his unwavering resolve and outspoken advocacy on this important issue. I can’t think of anyone more deserving.”

Johnson was an original cosponsor of the bipartisan bill that arranged the award.
