 U.S. Representative Mike Johnson (LA-04) tonight released the following statement in response to President Donald Trump’s State of the Union address:

“By any objective measure, the Trump presidency has been a tremendous success. The people of Louisiana are reaping the benefits of a booming economy, more jobs and higher wages, energy independence, new trade deals, key judicial appointments, and a revitalized military. This evening, President Trump began writing the next chapter in our ‘Great American Comeback’ story. It is my hope that Congress can get to work to ensure that vision becomes a reality.

“We have an historic opportunity before us, and the leaders of both parties need to come together to pass legislation that will secure our Southern border, reduce the costs of health care, and eliminate wasteful government spending so our country can continue its resurgence. I’m grateful the president emphasized these objectives in his address tonight, and I look forward to working with him to achieve an even greater, stronger America in the days ahead.”
