U.S. Representative Mike Johnson (LA-04), a member of President Trump’s Task Force for Reopening America, today announced that the Louisiana Workforce Commission is receiving over $3 million from the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) to support its registered apprenticeship program.

The award, provided under the DOL’s “Building State Capacity to Expand Apprenticeship through Innovation” grants, will expand Louisiana’s registered apprenticeship programs and support partnerships will local businesses in the state. The Louisiana Workforce Commission is receiving $450,000 in Tier 1 funding and $3 million in Tier 2 funding.

“With Louisiana’s economy working to recover from the impacts of COVID-19, I’m encouraged to see a strong investment headed to our state to support our registered apprenticeship programs,” Johnson said. “These programs play a key role in creating new job opportunities and promoting economic growth, which is exactly what our communities need during this difficult time. I want to thank the Trump administration and Labor Secretary Eugene Scalia for supporting state programs like the Louisiana Workforce Commission, whose work will not only facilitate economic recovery, but will also change peoples’ lives for the better.”
