Bossier City, La. – U.S. Representative Mike Johnson (LA-04) today announced more than $13.4 million in COVID-19 aid has been awarded to Ochsner LSU Health Shreveport. $12.4 million of the funds will go toward enhancing the facility’s capacity for medical care through the addition of new ICU, surgical, and hospital beds. The remaining $1 million will be used for the purchase and distribution of medical supplies, personal protection equipment, ventilators, and general medical equipment for the COVID-19 emergency response at Ochsner. The funds will be administered through the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). “With so many communities competing for resources to battle COVID-19, I’m pleased we have been able to consistently secure such substantial aid for our district. This latest package will provide more beds in our hospitals and more supplies in the hands of our health care heroes, which will translate to more lives saved and quicker recoveries,” Johnson said. “My thanks to President Trump, the administration, and FEMA for their continued support in our region’s fight against this virus." |
