Johnson Announces Crawfish Farmers Now Eligible for Covid-19 Relief

Bossier City, La. – U.S. Representative Mike Johnson (LA-04) today announced that the list of eligible commodities of the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Coronavirus Food Assistance Program (CFAP) now includes crawfish. CFAP provides direct financial assistance to farmers and ranchers whose businesses have been impacted by the coronavirus pandemic. This program was created to ensure that America’s food suppliers are able to continue operations throughout the pandemic.

In addition to this announcement, the USDA also extended the deadline to apply for the program to Sept. 11. Eligible farmers and ranchers can apply for the program at farmers.gov/cfap.

“I’m pleased to announce relief is on the way to our crawfish farmers. As an industry largely dependent on social gatherings and events, the pandemic has been particularly devastating for these hardworking Louisianians. That is why our Congressional delegation fought so hard to ensure crawfish farming was included in this aid program. These much-needed resources will go a long way toward helping our struggling farmers make ends meet during this unprecedented and challenging time,” Johnson said. “My thanks to President Trump, USDA, and the entire administration for their assistance and their unwavering support for our nation’s farmers.”
