Johnson Announces $250,000 to Support Efforts to Prevent Substance Abuse in Youth

BOSSIER CITY, La. – U.S. Representative Mike Johnson (LA-04) today announced that $250,000 is headed to combat substance abuse in the 4th Congressional District of Louisiana. Specifically, the funding is going to the Union Parish for Community Transformation program and the Bienville Community Coalition to support their efforts to prevent and reduce substance abuse in Louisiana’s youth.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has awarded the programs the following amounts:

  • Union Parish for Community Transformation: $125,000
  • The Bienville Community Coalition: $125,000

“While recent headlines have been dominated by the coronavirus pandemic and the most powerful hurricane ever to hit Louisiana, the opioid epidemic continues to impact communities and families across our state, particularly in some of our most rural parishes. That is why I am pleased to see that local organizations working to combat substance abuse are receiving this much-needed federal funding to continue their efforts,” said Johnson.
