Johnson Announces Over $10 Million in Federal Funding for Allen Parish, Kinder, and Oakdale for Hurricane Laura Recovery Efforts

WASHINGTON, May 18, 2021 — United States Representative Mike Johnson (LA-04) today announced that Allen Parish and the towns of Kinder and Oakdale will receive a combined $10 million in further federal funding to assist with ongoing debris removal efforts related to Hurricane Laura, which made landfall in August 2020. “Hurricane Laura was the twelfth named storm, and the fourth and most damaging hurricane of the record-breaking 2020 Atlantic hurricane season. It devastated parts of our state and our district, and left behind massive amounts of debris,” Johnson said. “I’m thankful for the continued assistance from the Federal Emergency Management Agency to help get our communities cleaned up and back to work after this disaster.” Background from the Federal Emergency Management Agency: The Federal Emergency Management Agency today allocated $7,395,643.81 to Allen Parish, $1,225,367.22 to the town of Kinder, and $1,418,809.76 to the town of Oakdale for Debris Removal Operations as a result of Hurricane Laura. Funding for these projects is authorized under the Stafford Act. |
