WASHINGTON, July 8, 2021 — United States Representative Mike Johnson (LA-04) today announced that the Bellwood Water System will receive a $1,072,000 grant and a $408,000 loan to make water system and office building improvements. “This is great news for rural Natchitoches Parish and Northwest Louisiana,” Johnson said. “This crucial investment from the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) will help modernize the Bellwood Water System by reducing the amount of wasted water, which will cut costs and lead to greater efficiency.” Background: These investments from the USDA’s Rural Development office will directly fund the development of a magnetic ion exchange filtering treatment system and replacement of existing booster pumps and controls. The funds will also be used for the construction of a handicap-accessible office building as part of the Bellwood Water System’s modernization efforts.
