BOSSIER, August 20, 2021 — United States Representative Mike Johnson (LA-04) today announced that Allen Parish will receive $2,814,244 for debris removal operations resulting from the destruction of Hurricane Laura. “I’m grateful for this announcement of federal dollars for Hurricane Laura cleanup efforts. These critical funds will help our area get back on track, but there is still much work to be done for our region to fully recover,” Johnson said. “As hurricane season is again upon us, I remain committed to working with my colleagues to secure a supplemental disaster appropriations bill to bring Louisianians additional relief.” Background: This grant, from the Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), provides reimbursement to Allen Parish for costs accrued to remove debris during the Hurricane Laura recovery effort. During a period from October 14, 2020 to November 12, 2020, contract laborers for Allen Parish removed nearly 200,000 cubic yards of debris deposited throughout the parish, safely disposing it. This grant reimburses Allen Parish for costs accrued in the removal. ### |
